What is love??

February 12 is a close date to February 14. February is the month where you can see malls decorated with the theme of love, where gift shops are extra red than any other days of the year and where you see all the travel packages offer for couples. Well, I am not here to write about what Valentine’s day is about. I am here to write about what love really is.

I was taught as a child to love my father, mother, sister, brother and of course all my relatives and friends. I didn’t have any second thoughts about my love for friends and family even as a child. But, what I don’t really know is what love is. It’s ironic, right?? I am here to define love and yet I am unable to define it.

Whenever I see someone getting injured in front of me, I really feel for that person and I would be very much ready to help him. Is it love?? Whenever I find someone so much clicked into my conversation, I forget everything and get lost into that person. Is it love?? Whenever I see my parents getting old and energyless, I so want to refill enthusiasm in their life just to see them happy. Is it love?? Whenever I watch F.R.I.E.N.D.S, I feel so relaxed no matter how much stressed I had been before. Is it love?? Whenever I get broken into pieces, I console myself by saying, “Everything is going to be alright, Just hang in there”. Is it love? And, whenever I meet someone in the same pathetic situation as I was before, I really wanna hug him and say, “Time heals everything”. Is it love??

Here I am in the pendulum around the same old questions in my mind. What is love? How do you know if you love someone? What actually is selfless love?? What gives you the urge to finally speak up to the person and confidently say, “I love you”? What gives you the courage to be in love with the same person again and again and yet hold him no matter what?

Yes, love exists. What my opinion says is you as a person love everyone. You love your parents. You love your relatives. You love your friends. You love your colleagues. You even love the stranger for no reason. The world is so much filled with love. Let’s not blind ourselves with all the hatred created. Hatred is so temporary. The world is filled with eternal love and let’s celebrate love.

Let’s reach out to people to express our love. Let them feel special. Let our love be powerful energy for them. Let’s not even waste a single second by not expressing our love.
