Welcoming 2021, Saying goodbye to 2020
2020 has been hell of a year. The year can’t simply be summed up in a blog. Yet, here I am to highlight most of my experiences. Not forgetting to mention that I am really looking forward to what 2021 has to offer.
The beginning of 2020 was an exciting time for me as I was just getting started with my post-bachelor’s life. I was learning new things, applying those things in projects, and creating a difference. I was making the most out of my time. Also, I was having the first-ever experience of living in a rented room with my brother. Just when I was really enjoying the flavor of learning new things, being independent, and making value, COVID rose to its peak and our country entered the phase of lockdown.
The office I had been working in entered the phase of Work From Home. I came to my hometown for the phase. The time of pandemic really had affected people all around the world. In comparison to others, my life was less affected as I was doing my job. Being an outgoing person, however, became difficult for me to comply with the situation. There used to be times when I had no interest in doing anything. I used to pull myself together to work anyway. Other than that, I used to watch series on Netflix in my past time. During the phase of lockdown, I watched many series and movies including dark, lucifer, suits, aarya, Brooklyn nine-nine, Harry Potter and many more. Everything was going monotonous. The cycle of wakeup-watch series-code-watch series-sleep never seemed to stop until I decided to move on.
I took this opportunity to explore myself. I started trying out new things. I learned makeup from a makeup-artist. I read books. I decided to dedicate my time to do extra hours at my office. This helped a lot for my growth. I represented my office at
google developers group and gave a session on a topic that had always fascinated me ‘Netflix: A case study’. I wrote blogs on a few topics out of my interest. On top of everything, I grew emotionally. I learned to appreciate and love myself. I accepted myself for who I really am, embraced my qualities, and worked on my flaws. Life had never been so peaceful, calm, and full of positivity. And just like that, in no time the year is coming to an end.
Apart from my growth, one thing I am really thankful for this year is that I got to spend time with my family for so many months after so long. I got the opportunity to be close to them. I got to know my best friend better as she had also come to her house for the lockdown. Two of my friends tied their knot with their loved ones. I was lucky enough for being able to participate in their best moments.
I was so nervous about welcoming 2020. But, welcoming 2021 has not brought any kind of nervousness in my life. I am rather looking forward to welcoming 2021 with my open arms.
